NEW STORE on ASpiRE Isle

Hello my little chickadees,

CHEZ GEO has opened a new outlet store on ASpiRE Isle! This is a wonderful new shopping sim, which also features Duality Inc and ASpiRE magazine and model agency headquarters.

One-off auction for RFL!

I have donated a one-off copy of the New Look gown in chocolate to be sold at auction for Relay For Life (the American Cancer Society fundraiser). Bidding is open until tomorrow at the Fashion Expo sim.

My store is now open on Rich Idiot. The TP point lands you right in front of my wee shop where you will find delectable freebies, including this wonderful catdress. I also stock jewelry, belts and day and eveningwear. Here is a sample of some of the collection:

The clothes have been designed so they can be mixed and matched. For example, you can wear the glitch pants from the New Look gown as capris, team them with one of the Cyclical tops and possibly a belt and bangle and voilà! Numerous ways to mix and match can be found (see the signs instore for inspiration or create your own).

For my next project I want to make some quality seperates like pants and shirts. I can't get enough of these myself in SL (it really helps make the most of the clothes in my inventory if I can mix and match them with great basics). Also, as a new designer, I feel it's important that I build my skills in creating quality garments with handdrawn details and shading, rather than wacky couture designs (which tend to fail unless they're underpinned by decent craftsmanship).

So look out for more easy-to-wear, inexpensive pieces. In the meantime, join the Chez Geo update group for group freebies and fun!

RL Fashion Institute Gives Classes in SL!

Exciting news! RL Fashion Training Institute Accademia Montenapoleone in Milan has opened in SL and has started giving fashion classes in the virtual world. The classes will be about RL fashion and design, as well as about branding and making clothes in SL. The college is set in the beautiful Montenapoleone sim, and you can tp to the classroom here.

The first class was given on 8th April by Prof. Manuela Rubertelli (in her Avatar form Mikado Rubble). In her talk, Prof. Rubertelli covered the RL textile fairs that have recently taken place over Europe from which designers will pick their fabrics for the Spring/Summer 2009 collections. From these fairs we can already get an idea of the catwalk themes for next year.

The talk was very interesting and several themes were brought to attention, in terms of colours, fabrics and patterns. The main focus of the talk was on the tropical fish theme, with colours inspired by nature.
